The Pawn by Skye Warren
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The pawn is a dark captivating read that will make you feel like you are on the edge of your seat. This book will make you think you know what will happen but offers so many twists and turns to keep you guessing.
Poor Avery's world has been turned upside down. She was once a rich princess who had the world at her feet! A year later, she has fallen from grace due to her father's bad business dealings. She is destitute, heartbroken and very desperate to keep her father alive and her family home. This desperation has made her give up her one last most precious possession. Avery will do whatever it takes to save her father!
Gabriel Miller was there when Avery lost everything. He may or may not have helped orchestrated this fall from grace. Gabriel is a very mysterious man with a lot of secrets that he isn't willing to share with Avery. He keeps her guessing at every turn.
This story is a very intriguing web of lies, deceit and drama. The author does a great job for taking you along for the ride. You will question and wonder what will happen next.
I can't wait for the next read to see who is going to "checkmate".
