It's been a minute

 It's definitely been more than a minute. Maybe 5 years since I have thought about this blog. How can that be?? I used to live to read a good book ahead of the scheduled release date. What happened to that girl? 

Unfortunately, a lot in the last five years. Lots of grief but also lots of love. I lost both of my parents in 2023, exactly 4 weeks apart from pancreatic cancer. Yes, they both had pancreatic cancer and it ended up taking both of them away from me. I was just coming to terms of losing Mom when Dad died. It hurt and still hurts a lot to this day. My parents were young and still had a lot of years left to live. It's unfair and life can be so cruel. Grief is such a rollercoaster of emotions. 

Along the way, our family grew closer. We say, "I love you" more often. We don't take our time together for granted. We also grieve together and share beloved memories of those we have lost. 

I've been reminding myself to live how I want to live because in the end, we die. We don't get another chance at this life. So it's up to us (You) to make the most of it. Only you can control you!

Reading is still a favorite hobby of mine. The goal for this year was to read like I used too all those years ago. I always had a book in my hand or nearby. I want to be that girl again. I definitely need an escape from reality. 

Look out because I'm back. 

My Review of Birdie's Biker (Royal Bastards MC: Reno)by Misty Walker

I don't even know where to begin with this book!!! It was so GOOD!!! I love all of this author's books but this one is her BEST one yet!!! She knocked it out of the park with this book!!

I love a good MC romance and especially one that's dark! And believe me this book is DARK (so trigger warning). 

Loki is the President of the Royal Bastards MC (Reno Chapter). He is set in his ways and not looking for love. Loki has seen what love can do to a man and swears he'll never let a woman become his weakness or downfall. 

Oh Birdie, what a fun character! This spoiled rich girl is so full of spunk and sass! She is a firecracker just waiting to go boom! 

A flurry of events happen and thrust Loki and Birdie together. They aren't fans of each other in the beginning. But after a whirlwind of adventures, their attitudes change and sparks fly! 

This book is dark, dirty and gritty. It is full of darkness (includes blood & violence), hot sexual situations (holy moly) and all the love you can imagine. 

You need to read to see if Loki will give into the weakness of love! Will it be his downfall or the greatest love of all?

Aurora Rose Reynolds has done it again! I love that when I read her books I know that I will be smiling a big old cheesey grin because I love a good Alpha male! I love a man who takes charge! And Gaston does take charge in a way only ARR could write! She's the queen of Alpha Males!

Gaston, the owner of 3 successful bars, doesn't lack any female attention. He has plenty of women who are waiting to be the mistress of his bars. They just fall at his feet and he has become pretty good at ignoring them. When he meets Chrissie, it's not instant love but instant attraction. She stirs up something in him that he thought was lost.

Chrissie is living her dream by owning a bakery. Her bakery keep her busy and she doesn't have a lot of time to date. So her running into Gaston happens by chance! Their first encounter will make you laugh and swoon! It's adorable and I was grinning from ear to ear when I read it.

Baiting Him is the 2nd book in a series but can be read as a standalone. This book is a feel good read that will leave you swooning over Gaston, smiling and just happy. ARR does a good job of doing that with all of her books!

When She Remembers isn't your typical 2nd chance romance book but then again it is! Henley, our resiliant and feisty heroine not only fell in love once but gets to do it all over again with the same guy! What a lucky girl!

Henley wakes up from a coma and thinks it's 2014. She finds it hard to believe that she wasn't just out with her friend Tuesday at a college bar the night before. To add to the confusion even more, a handsome stranger is in her hospital room and seems very familiar with her.

Graham is all alpha and doesn't seem to be pleased that his wife doesn't remember him. He knows that he can't push himself onto her too quickly or they won't ever reach a good understanding of each other. It kills him deep down and he vows to make her remember him and their love story.

Henley and Graham prove to want to work hard to remember the love they shared. But there are obstacles and mystery along the way that interferes. This 2nd chance is going to prove to be harder than they had hoped.

I published my first book Shattered in 2013. It's the first installment in the Shattered Hearts Series.

Shattered started out as an assignment for a college course I took at John Jay College of Criminal Justice. After I graduated college I went through my old papers and reconnected with the story morphing into so much more then what I wrote in my college course.

“You have a suit fitting tomorrow morning.” “Tomorrow morning? I have lots of suits; I’ll make one of those work.” “Are they like the ones you wore to the funeral?” I ask. “Yeah, why?” “Well, they may have fit you five years ago, but they certainly don’t fit you now. I’ll text you the details and add them to your personal calendar.” “You can’t do that without my cell number.” His smugness would be grating if I wasn’t two steps ahead of him. I flash a fake smile. “I already have all of your personal details, Lincoln. Right down to your shoe size. And you can’t be late like you were this morning, so it might be a good idea to avoid the scotch tonight so you’re less bear and more human. You’ll need to use these things called manners. I can email you a refresher on what those are, should you need it.” “Sarcasm is a weapon of the weak.” My ears are on fire as he heads for the door. Jerk. This is the author's first book and she did an amazing job! I'm hooked and can't wait for her next one!

Dustin Hanes has made a career out of a life of crime. He has lost all hope after a major loss in his life and doesn't care what happens to him anymore. He knows he has disappointed the only person who ever believed there was just a tiny bit of good in him and has choose to pay the devil his due.

Odilia is a sweet girl who doesn't really know what she wants out of life. She's trying to lead a life that isn't really for her just to please her parents. Odilia needs someone to help guide her away from being underneath her parent's thumbs.

Heaven and Hell will clash when Dustin and Odilia meet. The Devil will definitely take advantage of the Sweet Angel that is trying to save him. Will she succeed? Or will they both combust into flames?

Vindicated was very well written and I look foward to more bad boys from Misty!
